R.I.P Steve Jobs

Steve Jobs, Apple co-founder, has died at the age of 56. Jobs was the mastermind behind the Apple iPhone, iPad, iPod, iMac and iTunes.

Jobs had battled numerous health issues over the past few years. In 2004 he announced that he had pancreatic cancer and in 2009 he underwent a liver transplant.

Apple has paid tribute to Steve Jobs by posting the following on its homepage:

Apple has lost a visionary and creative genius, and the world has lost an amazing human being. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know and work with Steve have lost a dear friend and an inspiring mentor. Steve leaves behind a company that only he could have built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple.

If you would like to share your thoughts, memories, and condolences, please email rememberingsteve@apple.com

The statement concludes, “We are grateful for the support and kindness of those who share our feelings for Steve. We know many of you will mourn with us, and we ask that you respect our privacy during our time of grief.”Jobs’ family have also issued a statement saying that he “died peacefully today surrounded by his family”.

RIP Steve Jobs, you will never be forgotten!

Desiderata

Go placidly amid the noise and the haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.

As far as possible, without surrender,
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even to the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons;
they are vexatious to the spirit.

If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain or bitter,
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.

Exercise caution in your business affairs,
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals,
and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love,
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment,
it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.

Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be.
And whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life,
keep peace in your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

Happy Birthday Mum

Muchos besos y abrazos Mama … )

Traditional Marketing – Business Cards

Traditional Marketing has been stamped as the old type of marketing, with the invention of the Internet; Social Media has established a new era of Marketing strategies. However I believe we should not forget that traditional marketing still can have an amazing response, especially with a simple business card.

Below you can see the power of face to face marketing but also the spontinaity and the energy of the guy in the clip below it reminds me that having a positive first contact with a customer is a key factor into reaching them and making them curious enough to visit your site.

It took me less than 5 minutes to realize the potential of this guy, because as soon as I gave him some of my businesses cards he launched himself  imidiately towards a potential custumer and I sat back and just observed him while he was doing his thing.
